There are a lot of blues and folk songs that no one has taken the time to record. And the work of brilliant 19th century black American poets is waiting for a new voice.

I've listened to a lot of music that is rare, that people haven't heard before, but is out there in museums and archives. I began experimenting with tempo/time signatures and doing my own arrangements.

My project was enthusiastically embraced by the owners of the studio, other musicians, and the general public, who came to the open stages.
